Elizabeth Nielsen, M.A., LMFT, SEP

Beth is the founder and President of Lotus Circle international, as well as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She has a private practice in San Francisco, CA and has served as a Senior Assistant in Somatic Experiencing (SE) trainings for the Foundation for Human Enrichment since 2001. She is approved to provide SE sessions and consultations for SEP certification through the advanced level and also provides clinical supervision to MFT interns. In addition to her ongoing work with adults and healing trauma, her professional background also includes years working with children, adolescents, families and couples. She currently works as a Clinical Director for Edgewood Center for Children and Families Outpatient Mental Health Program.
In addition to her work in the United States, Beth’s heartfelt passion is working internationally bringing the (SE) approach to underserved populations that have been exposed to disasters, violence, and adversity.  After the Tsunami, she helped organize and traveled with four teams of SEP’s to Tamil Nadu, India to support Tsunami survivors (
www.TraumaVidya.org) to heal from post traumatic stress. She is recently established a U.S. based nonprofit, Lotus Circle International, whose mission will be to continue to empower under served populations worldwide. In February of 2009 she lead a team of SEP’s in a Women’s Empowerment Project teaching SE skills and providing sessions to oppressed village women and the local NGO staff in South India. See India Project page for the full report.
Beth’s work is influenced by years of personal healing, yoga and mindfulness practices, and assisting in SE trainings with Steven Hoskinson and Peter Levine. Integrating a mindfulness approach, Beth supports the organic wisdom of all beings and see this as central and essential for empowerment, trauma renegotiation, and the evolution of consciousness.
